SIMPLE HARVESTING. The bag system eliminates B & B
digging. Your trees are in the bag, and the bag is easy to dig. |
NO EXPENSIVE HARVESTING EQUIPMENT is needed. Save your
money. No need to spend major dollars on tree spades and moving
cranes. Your labor does not have to be skilled in operating complicated
and dangerous equipment. |
ANYONE CAN DIG! Your labor problems are solved. With the
Root Control Bag system workers without nursery experience can
be very productive. Harvesting even large caliper sized trees
is quick, easy and can be done by unskilled labor. The tree is
in the bag. |
HARVESTING IS QUICK AND CHEAP! Depending on bag size and
soil type, many trees are dug by hand with unskilled labor in
one or two minutes. Quick mechanical harvesting is possible with
a forklift, backhoe or front end scooper. |
GREATLY EXPANDED HARVESTING SEASON. Because of the root
pruning induced by the bag, digging season is greatly expanded.
Some bag growers dig year around. More normally, do not dig when
the tree is in a flush of growth. After the flush hardens, digging
resumes. Plant species, soil conditions and other variables should
be considered when digging. And when the WEATHER IS TOO WET or
TOO DRY for traditional digging, bag users are busy digging. |
AUTOMATIC ROOT PRUNING! No mechanical root pruning device
is needed. The fabric bag naturally root prunes a plant 24 hours
a day, 365 days a year. This natural root pruning also induces
a natural CALLOUSING on the root tip and a buildup of CARBOHYDRATES
in the root structure. Root pruning, root callousing and carbohydrate
buildup give a plant great survivability at transplant. |
NO ROOT CIRCLING. Roots penetrate the fabric and go through
the bag instead of circling. And because roots penetrate into
the field, ROOT CONTROL BAG TREES DO NOT BLOW OVER IN THE WIND. |
SMALLER BALL SIZE! Because of the root pruning induced
by the fabric, growers may harvest a plant with a ball size up
to one half the size of a traditionally dug ball. A smaller ball
size means vastly LOWER HANDLING and TRANSPORTATION COSTS for
both you and your customers. Expensive moving and loading equipment
is either not needed or much more efficient. |
Large box or container growers should consider that the Root
Control Bag uses REGULAR FIELD SOIL, not an expensive mix or
median. The field is a much more forgiving place to grow, and
WATERING and FERTILIZATION needs can be cut by more than half.
Trees grow quicker and with better caliper and a fuller canopy.
In the ground growing means less freeze damage in the winter
and heat exposure in the summer. The small ball size assures
the plant can easily be finished out in a large box or pot. |
RAPID PLANT RE-ESTABLISHMENT TIME! Because of the root
pruning, root callousing and carbohydrate buildup plants quickly
establish themselves in the landscape or into a pot or box. NEW
ROOT REGENERATION following transplant is MASSIVE because the
Root Control fabric has prepared the plant's root structure to
be moved. |
MORE PLANTS PER ACRE are possible with the Root Control
Bag system because plant spacing is dictated by plant requirements,
not by the size of large harvesting equipment. Yet SELECTIVE
TREE HARVEST is easier than ever. Reduced spacing gives PER PLANT
SAVINGS in OVERHEAD, FERTILIZATION and WEED CONTROL. |

Properly used, the Root Control Bag System of growing offers
LOWER PRODUCTION COSTS and HEALTHIER PLANTS compared to other
growing systems. And lower production costs and healthier plants
save you money. |
